Wombwell “Gloopers”

Fifteen Hundred Welcome Concert Party.

As was only to expected, considering the a number of keen “Gloopers” there are at Wombwell, the Gloops Family Concert Party at the Pavilion Theatre, Wombwell, on Saturday afternoon was a great success.

The pavilion Theatre, the largest, and also one of the most successful places of entertainment in the Dearne Valley, was literally packed, and it was only with difficulty that Mr. H. Thorley kept the gangways open.

The “Gloopers” numbered about 1.500, including mothers and fathers: which shows that have been two “Gloopers” on nearly every seat.

Mr C.B. Finney, who introduced the family party, must have been quite embarrassed when he appeared, on the stage, because his speech was interrupted by cheers.

The concert was a “howling” success! It need only be said that it surpassed all expectations.

Pa had the fifteen hundred excited little children rocking with laughter, and Gloops ‘himself seem to be in his most jovial mood. In song and dance the Family excelled themselves. There was no end of cheering.
