William Rowbottom.
The death occurred at St. Helens Hospital, Barnsley, on Wednesday, of Mr. William Rowbottom, of Wombwell at the age of 72.
Mr Rowbottom was a native of Oldbury, Worcestershire, but had lived in Wombwell from boyhood. He was brought to Wombwell by his parents, his father, the late Mr. Samuel Rowbottom, being an old servant of the Wombwell Main Colliery Company.
Mr.Rowbottom started his working life at Mitchell Main Colliery and for many years was employed at DartieId Main. He last worked at Manvers Main.
He was a member of Wombwell Parish Church and a regular attender at the Sunday evening services. His wife died about eight years ago.
His only son Mr.Herbert Rowbottom who worked at Wombwell Main Colliery for many years before leaving the country, is now in Canada.
