Tragic Discovery
Daughter Finds Father Dead On Bedroom Floor.

The death occurred suddenly on Sunday of Mr. William Henry Owen (59), 74, Bramley Road, Wombwell.
Mr. Owen remained in bed on Sunday morning, and in the afternoon his daughter went into his bedroom and was shocked to find him lying in a collapsed condition on the floor, partly dressed. Dr. J. Purdie was called, and pronounced him dead. Mr. Owen would have been 60 on the following day.
He joined the Navy as a young man and served twenty – one years. He succeeded in rejoining during the war and was engaged on the transport of munitions across to France. He had command of a small boat, having an exceptional knowledge of the Channel. He came to Wombwell twenty years ago, and was employed as a shaftsman at Wombwell Main Colliery until six months ago, He is a well-known and popular member of the Wombwell W.M.C.
An inquiry into the death of Mr. Owen was held by the District Coroner on Tuesday. Dr. W. C. Jardine said the postmortem examination revealed heart disease. Witness was of the opinion that he died in consequence of a, heart seizure.
A verdict of “death from natural causes” was returned.
