The House that Martin Built
Mr Martin Stenton of Wombwell, proudly exhibiting his model house to a few other friends he entertained on his 90th birthday last Thursday.
With no other tools than a pocket knife, Mr Stenton made this model for Elsecar Exhibition in 1869.
On the left is Mrs PM Walker, Wombwell Grange, President of the Wombwell Old Peoples Treat Committee, holding the arm of Mr Joseph Taylor who, in his 94th year is Wombwell’s oldest townsman.
Mrs Walker took these two worthies in a private car on the Old People’s outing yesterday
