Two Desert Rats

Writing from the Western desert and signing themselves “The Two Desert Rats,” A.C.1 K. White, of 32, Daylands Avenue, Conisbrough, and L.A.C. Raymond Barlow, of 70, Park Street, Wombwell, say they have been good friends for 15 months and were together at El Alamein and while the Axis were being pushed out of North Africa.

They say that the “South Yorkshire Times,” which is sent to them, provides lots of pleasure and tends to make them feel a lot nearer home than they really are.

A.C. White wishes to be remembered to all his workmates at Denaby Colliery where he worked before joining the Forces in April, 1941, and sends his best regards to Mr. N. Hulley, Mr. C. J. Pickett and others. He went abroad in February, 1942.

L.A.C. Barlow was an employee of Thos. Mackridge and Son, Park Street, Wombwell, and wishes to be remembered to his pals. He joined the Forces in May, 1940, and left England in November, 1940.

Both say they are in good spirits and looking forward to when they will be back home again.
