Rev. Henry Weale – A Popular Minister

The Reverend Henry Weale, of Hollybank, Stoke-on-Trent, and formerly of the Congregational Church, West Melton, passed away at his bedside at his residence on Sunday evening last after an illness lasting for some three months, and the funeral service was held in the Copeland St, Congregational Church on Wednesday.

The deceased minister came from Wombwell to West Melton in July, 1879, and remained until May, 1903.

He greatly endeared himself by his homely visitations and is virile preaching, and is still affectionately remembered by many of his devoted and attached people both in Wombwell and West Melton.

He held pastorates in Staithes, Eastborough, Scarborough, Ludlow, and Silverdale.

His son, Sydney Henry Weale is the city organist of Stoke-on-Trent.
