Obituary – Charles Willow Heath
The death occurred on Thursday of Mr. Charles Willows Heath ( 38 ) , of 2, Frederick Street, Wombwell.
Mr. Heath was a native of Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, and on leaving school worked on farms. At the age of nineteen he left farm service and commenced work on the London and North Eastern Railway at Penistone as a porter and shunter.
Leaving Penistone, Mr. Heath began work at Crofton as a signal man and has since had similar occupations at Mexboro’ West, Mexboro’ No. 1, and Wath.
In 1917 he joined the Army, serving in the Royal Engineers for two years. Mr. Heath was very keen on gardening and spent many enjoyable hours in his allotments.
For many years Mr. Heath a prominent member of the Barnsley Road Primitive Methodist Church. He leaves a widow.
The interment took place at Wombwell cemetery on Monday, the Primitive Methodist minister, the Rev. W. Swinnerton, conducting the ceremony. In the cortege were many representatives from the L.N.E.R., who also sent floral tokens.
