Lord George Sanger’s famous circus will visit Swinton on Thursday next.


Mr. and Mrs. Fullerton have taken up residence at Noblethorpe Hall.


Mrs. Hillerby, of Mexboro’, is in a critical condition, suffering from cancer.


Mr. G. H. Smith’s accepted tender for the completion of Wombwell Church amounts to £2,791.


The will of the late Mr. John Boomer, of Conisboro’, shows estate of the value of £17,576.


Mr. J. Langley, of Sheffield, has taken Hooton Roberts Hall, and will reside there shortly.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Barnsley (Mr. and Mrs. Wragg), on Tuesday night, entertained 500 of the grand poor of the town to tea in the Public Hall of the Harvey Institute.


Mr. J. Speight, a timber merchant of Elsecar, who is well-known in the Mexboro’ district, has been missing from his business a fortnight. His family are naturally much concerned at his absence.


Barnsley British Co-operative Society, as the result of a deputation to the Directors, have decided to double their subscription to the Montagu Cottage Hospital, raising it from £10 to £20.


The touring season has commenced. Mr. Whitfield, of Conisboro’, was in Mexboro’ with his motor-car on Wednesday evening, laying in a store of petrol for the forthcoming campaign.


Miss Montagu would have been present at the foundation-stone laying of the new Mexboro’ Montagu Hospital, on Monday, but for the fact that she is at present travelling abroad in the classical country of Greece.


In connection with the case of small-pox discovered at Mexboro’, on Saturday night, the sanitary authority have several persons under observation who are known to have been in contact with the man removed to the hospital.


The friendly societies of Oddfellows and others of Denaby, Mexboro’, Swinton, etc., will attend a series of services in the Conisboro’ Parish Church on Sunday next, when the Rev. W. G. Wood will preach, and the proceeds of the services will go towards the local charities.
