Flooded Land
Skating was in full swing in the Wombwell district during the week-end.
A favoured spot was land between Wombwell and Darfleld where fields lying below the river level are flooded. Just outside the village of Broomhlll, hundreds enjoyed themselves on good stretch of three or four acres The Ice was the best for years and the sport could be enjoyed with perfect safety.
There was also good skating on the excavations near the London and North- Eastern railway at Wombwell Junction.
Stocks of skates were soon sold out on Saturday night
