Fatal Accident at Wombwell Main
While following his duty at the slack-wash at Wombwell Main colliery, on Wednesday morning, Sam Stott aged 23 years, of Hough Lane, lost his life under sad and strange circumstances.
It appears that after opening a door, apparently to get some fresh air, he seemed to fall forward a distance of about 12 yards as if seized with dizziness.
When picked up his injuries were found to be serious, and he was removed to the Beckett hospital, where he succumbed about noon.
Deceased was a native of Glossop.
