Brampton Widows Death

Neighbour’s Found Her Collapsed

On Tuesday morning Mrs. Harriet Cutler (71) of the Bungalows, Chapel Avenue, Brampton was seen by neighbours cutting her privet edge.

Twenty minutes later, Mrs Ayscough and Mrs. Cherry, seeing her door open, went into the house and found her lying in a collapsed condition on the floor of the living room. She had had a seizure and died three hours later.

Mrs. Cutler was widow of Mr. Thomas Cutler, who died six years ago. A native of Kimberworth, she came to this district as a girl and lived for a long time at New Wombwell. Before moving into the bungalows 18 months ago she lived in Becknoll Road for 23 years.

She leaves two sons, two daughters, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Cutler was a popluar member of Brampton Darby and Joan Club and recently enjoyed a holiday at Withernsea with the old  people of Brampton.

Mrs. Ayscough said she was “the life and soul” of the club and at Withernsea kept them all alive with her merry spirit. Her door was “always wide open” and she was looked upon with affection by everybody in the district.

The interment will he at Brampton Church yard to-day (Friday).
