Assaults on the Police at Wombwell

John Humphries, a Denaby lockout, was fined 5s and cost by the Barnsley magistrates yesterday for being drunk at Wombwell on Saturday night, and he was further fined 10 shillings and costs for assaulting police constable Williams on the same occasion

A ticket-of-leave man named George Wigglesworth, who in attempting to rescue Humphries, threw police constable Kilner to the ground and kicked him several times in the side, was sent to jail for three months.

The affair took place in Park Street Wombwell.
