Yorkshire Clean Milk Competition Winner

A tribute alike to his proficiency as a producer and to the time and thought devoted to the subject by the local health department, was the success recently achieved by Mr. Edward Thawley, of Woodhead Farm, Blacker Hill, in the Yorkshire Clean Milk Competition.

Brief details of the results of this competition were published a fortnight ago, but by way of an aside, it might be stated here that Blacker Hill is in Wombwell and not in Barnsley. Mr. Hawley has also been competing simultaneously in the Wombwell district Clean Milk Competition inaugurated by Dr. J. C. Pickup, the local Medical Officer of Health.

Mr. Thawley won the first prize in section 3 (herds of from 8 to 16 beasts not having produced designated milks for twelve months). Actually he competed with fifteen beasts and therefore was on the border line of section 2 and would find it relatively more difficult to keep to the required standard.

The second prize in the same section was won by Mr, Fred Wood, of Bleak House Farm, Hemingfield.
