Wombwell’s Memorial Park.
The War Memorial Committee the Wombwell Council have recommended that the Council enter into definite negotiations for the purchase of a site embracing what is popularly known as the “Hilly fields’’ for the laying out of a public park as a war memorial.
The site, comprising 41 1-3 acres, has been offered by Captain Wentworth at a price of £2,600.
The committee also suggest that permission be sought to erect a monument on land adjoining the Parish Church, and that a tablet containing the names the men who joined His Majesty’s Forces, be erected at the Town Hall.
