An inquest was held at the Wesleyan Reform Chapel, Lundhill, Wombwell, on Monday, into the circumstanced attending the death which occurred suddenly last week-end of Joseph Watkin, a rope hand employed at the Mitchell’s Main Colliery, and residing at 32, Lundhill row, Wombwell.

Deceased and others began to play a game of football on the field adjoining Lundhill on Friday evening. He ran up the held, had a shot at the goal, and then collapsed on the grass.

He became unconscious and died. Dr. D. B. Foley stated that death was due to old valvular disease of the heart accelerated by exertion, and a verdict was returned accordingly.
