Enormous Traffic in Wombwell Street.
An inquest was held at Wombwell, yesterday, on Richard Horobin, aged 3, who was knocked down by a charabanc in High Street, Wombwell, on Saturday afternoon and shockingly injured dying immediately.
The accident took place in a busy thoroughfare and was witnessed by a large crowd of people. The charabanc was travelling through Wombwell to Barnsley, and the boy darted across the road straight in front of it. His body and legs were crushed and his head smashed to pulp.
The Coroner, Mr. C. J. Haworth, returned a verdict of “Death from misadventure,” and exonerated the driver but remarked that the thoroughfare at Wombwell was never constructed to take the enormous traffic which was now being got through it.
