The Wombwell Urban Council adopted a scheme for the erection of about 600 houses in Kings Road, Wombwell, and Cemetery Road. .Jump and Hemingfield, the land having been already acquired.

Prizes to the value of £130 have been offered for competitive designs from architects within a radius of 30 miles of Wombwell.
