Wombwell Colliery Development

The development at Wombwell of a modernised colliery with potential output of 5,000 tons a day was foreshadowed by Mr. J. A. Hall, Yorkshire Miners’ President, when he addressed veterans at Darfield Main Colliery to-night at a gathering held to celebrate nationalisation. About 80 veterans were given tea, concert and 5s. each.

Mr Hall, who was referring the Board’s re planning scheme, declined to mention the name of the pit but is understood he was referring to Darfield Main, where the new seam, the Abdy Seam (known at some pits as the Winterbed), has been tapped and tested in the past few days.
