Wombwell Chairman’s Complaint Against Public.

“The sorrowful part of the whole business is the apathy of the public in not using the trams.” was the remark made Councillor J. Hall (chairman of the Wombwell Urban District Council) last night in reference aat the Council meeting to the municipally-owned Dearne District Light Railway.

The Council were discussing an application by a private firm for permission to vary their time-table.

Councillor T. Newsome remarked; “We always seem to lean to one firm arid put lockers in way of people who are ratepayers in the town.”

The chairman denied emphatically that, the Council always “leaned to one company!” He added that in the near future the Council would possibly be discussing the new departure in the transport system in the Dearne Valley.
