Wombwell Aerodrome.

Coun. Belshaw, of Wombwell, is to be congratulated on having the courage to bring forward the really brilliant idea of getting Wombwell scheduled as an airport.

Mr. Belshaw, indeed, put up an excellent case for the selection of the neighbourhood of Wombwell for this purpose, and the more one thinks about it the more the idea appeals. It is a sign of the progress of enlightenment in our local authorities that Mr. Belshaw was allowed to develop his idea in respectful silence.

Not long ago, anybody in Wombwell or anywhere outside the great cities who had suggested anything ambitious would have been laughed to scorn by his own townsfolk. Come to think of it, the open country between Wombwell and Darfield is as suitable and accessible and centrally situated for this purpose as any aviation park that could be prepared in the neighhourhood of Sheffield or Manchester.

An airport at Wombwell could be served by road and rail, and even by water, as conveniently as any other point. We hope the idea will be taken up seriously.
