Wombwell’s Big Defeat of Wakefield.
Wakefield City, with a weakened team, fell easy victims to Wombwell at Wombwell yesterday.
Wombwell’s position is thus improved by four point obtained at home within three days. The home team won the toss, and with the wind at their backs, gained an early lead, Millar and Bolsover netting within the first ten minutes. Redfeard, the Wombwell outside-left, distinguished himself with some beautifully-placed tb.entres, from one of which Bolsover scored a third goal just before half-time.
In the second half the City kept their end up for a spell of ten minutes, after which they were hopelessly overwhelmed. Two more goals came through Allavey and Jarvis, new recruits to Wombwell, and only over eagerness on the part of the home forwards prevented their getting further ahead.
