The wedding took piece at Broomhill Primitive Methodist Church, on Monday, the Rev. W. Swinnerton R.C.F., officiating, of Miss Emily Wharton, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Wharton of 122, Broomhill Lane, Wombwell, to Mr. Clifford Norman Shaw, third son of Mr. John and the late Mrs. Shaw of Shaftesbury Avenue, Stairtoot.
The bridal party, with nine bridesmaids, made a pretty spectacle. The bride wore ivory satin with pink lace and wore a veil of Brussels net, the gift of her aunt Miss L. Beevers, and a wreath of orange blossom.
The bridesmaids were Misses Ada, Edith and Mary Wharton and Irene Stevens in lime green satin and lace with bouquets of mixed blooms; Misses Linda and Irene Shaw and Rhoda and Mona Wharton in Death satin and Miss Margery Shaw in white satin. All had silver leaf headdresses. The bride’s mother was present in blue satin and lace. The best man was Mr. Joseph Dale, and the groomsman Mr, William Wharton jun. The bride was given away by her father. A large company attended the reception at the Priminye Church. where the bride is a member of the choir.
The bridegroom is a popular member of the Wombwell “Penny in the £” Hospital Committee. Gifts from the members of i the Broomhill P.M. Church were included in the welding presents.
