Blind Bridegroom & Half-Blind Bride
Moving Story
Wedding : Warrington & Meggitt.
A Chapeltown man who lost his sight in the war led his bride to the altar at Wombwell Church on Saturday. The bridegroom was Mr. William Fletcher Warrington, eldeSt son of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Warrington, 21, King Street, Wombwell, and the bride Miss Emma Meggitt, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Meggitt, ; Kelvin Grove, Wombwell. The bride is partially blind and for eight years has been employed in a department run for the welfare of the blind by the Barnsley Corporation. The wedding aroused a good deal of interest and many friends of the couple were present.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore Lido-blue crepe de Chine with hat to tone and carried a bouquet of pink chrysanthemums. Her bridesmaids were Miss Mary Meggitt her sister), who wore floral crepe marocain with hat to match, and Miss Ivy Palmer (foster sister of the bridegroom), who wore blue crepe de Chine with beige trimmings and hat to match. The bridesmaids carried yellow chrysanthemums. The best man was Mr. Edward Warrington, and the groomsman Mr. Joseph Warrington, both brothers of the bridegroom.
