At Wombwell Parish Church on Saturday, Miss Sarah (“Sally”) Parkin, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Parkin, of 7. Mellor Road, Wombwell, was married to Mr. Jack Redman, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Redman, of 14, Pontefract Road, Brampton.

The bridegroom is well known in local football circles as a playing member at the Wood’s Glass Works team. He was at one time attached to the Wombwell troop of Scouts.

The service was conducted by the Rector, Canon J. St. Leger Blakeney. The bride looked charming in a period gown of white charmeuse with long train. A coronet of orange blossom surmounted her veil and she carried pink carnations. The bridesmaids were Miss Betty Wing, cousin of the bride, in blue net over taffeta, Miss Joyce Denton, in pink net over taffeta, and Miss Sonia Nowell, in white figured taffeta. The first two wore haloes of pink Bowers and carried tulips of mauve and pink. Miss Nowell wore a small cap of white figured taffeta and carried a posy of double pink tulips. Mrs. Parkin had chosen a dress of London tan and the bridegroom’s mother was in black. The page, George Smith. nephew of the bride, wore a white silk blouse and long pinstriped trousers. Mr. Henry Redman, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr. Robert Parkin, brother of the bride groomsman. Mr. J. Harrington was at the organ, and the hymns “The Church one foundation” and “Praise my soul, the King of Heaven” were sung.

A reception was held at the Royal Oak Hotel, Wombwell. The couple are to live at 14, Pontefract Road. Brampton.
