Wedding: Owen & Shaw

The wedding took place at Wombwell Parish Church on Monday of Miss Helen Owen, daughter of Mrs. Owen and the late Mr. W. Owen, 73 Barnsley Road, Wombwell, and Mr. James Shaw, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Shaw, also of Barnsley Road. The Rev. J. St. Leger Blakeney officiated.

The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. Oscar Owen, and wore ivory lace and carried red roses. Miss Violet Plummer was bridesmaid and wore floral ninon and carried yellow irises. Ivy Lockwood and Mary Major, two small maids wore pale blue silk and carried yellow irises. Eric Owen and Major Nesbitt were pages in suits of gold satin.

The best man was Mr. Stephen Major and the groomsman Messrs. Vincent Morris and George Owen.

The bride was a tram conductor on the Dearne District Light Railway, and many of her fellow workers were present.
