A former attendant on the Beauty Queen at Wombwell was a bridesmaid at her sister’s wedding at Wombwell Parish Church on Saturday. The wedding was of Miss Constance Milthorpe, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Miithorpe, 16, School Street, Wombwell, to Mr. Horace Turton, elder son of Mrs. Harper, George Street, Wombwell, and the late Mr. Turton.
The ceremony was performed by the Rector, Canon J. St. Leger Blakeney.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of brocaded ivory satin, with veil and small coronet of orange blossom. Her bouquet was of red carnations. The only bridesmaid was Miss Phyllis Milthorpe, sister of the bride, who wore a dress of maroon silk velvet, with silver Juliet cap and diamante necklace given her by the bridegroom. Mr. Harold Milthorpe, brother of the bride, was best man, and Mr. Robert Harper, step-brother of the bridegroom, groomsman.
At the reception at the Primitive Methodist Schools, Barnsley Road, Wombwell, Mrs. Milthorpe wore maroon satin beaute with navy hat to tone. The bridegroom’s mother was in navy blue.
