Wombwell Airman’s Wedding
Corpl. J. W. Baker and Miss J. J. Middleton
Member of a well-known family of musicians, Miss Jean Jessie Middleton, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Middleton, “Belmont House.” Hough Lane, Wombwell, was married at Wombwell Parish Church on New Year’s Day to Corporal Jack Whinter Barker, R.A.F., second son of Mrs. E. J. Barker, of 9. High Street, Wombwell, and the late Mr. John Whinter Barker.
The bride wore a picture dress of ivory lace, the veil falling from a coronet of orange blossom and forming a train. Her bouquet was of lilies.
There were two small maids, Jean Barker (6) and Marilyn Barker (6), both nieces of the bridegroom. They wore long dresses of blue taffeta with small hats to tone and carried posies of anemones.
Best man was Mr. Raymond Barrett and groomsman Messrs Herbert and Harry Middleton, brothers of the bride.
The coaches for this wedding were supplied by Mr. Douglas Lee, private car and taxi proprietor, Central Garage Wombwell (Phone Wombwell 14).
