Wombwell Soldier’s A.T.S. Bride
The wedding took place at Church of Scotland, Galashiels near Edinburgh, on Friday, of Corporal Godridge, Duke of Wellington Regiment, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. David Godridge, 161, Summer Lane, Wombwell, to Miss Margaret Lyall, daughter of M and Mrs. Lyall, of 7. Dal, Street. Galashields.
The bride serving in the A.T.S., and first met the bridegroom when he was stationed in Scotland. The bridegroo is one of three soldier brothers and has been in the Army about twelve years. He served in India six years and at the outbreak of the present war was called up as a reservist.
Both bride and brldegroom were in khaki uniform for the wedding, the bride being given away by her father. Best man was Mr. Irving Godridge (brother of the bride), and groomsman Mr. James Lyall (brother of the bride). The bridesmaid, Miss Jessie Lyall (sister of the bride), wore a dress of brown Angora with accessories to tone and a spray of carnations.
The bridegroom served in France in early part of the present war and was on his way to Norway at the time of the withdrawal from that country. He has also served nearly two years in Iceland.
