Wedding – Loy & Francis
A romance that sprang from comradeship of this road, reached happy culmination at the Barnsley Road Methodist Church, Wombwell, on Saturday morning, Miss Ethel Loy, eldest daughter of Mr. Charles H. Loy, secretary of Wombwell football club and Mrs. Loy, 3, Myrtle Road, Wombwell, was married to Mr William Francis, son and of Mr and Mrs Francis. 7. Dearne Street, Great Houghton.
Both are members of Goldthorpe Clarion Cycling Club. Clubmates acted as best man and groomsman, and many cyclist colleagues were present.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. Swinnerton in the presence of a large congregation. The bride wore Lido blue crepe suede and blue velour hat, and carried white chysanthemums. The maids were Misses Alice Loy in floral crepe de Chine: Hilda Loy in brown floral crepe de Chine; and Norah Brown in green crepe de Chine. They carried bronze chrysanthemums. Two little maids, Edna and Brenda Loy, wore wine coloured velvet with caps, and carried posies. The best man was Mr. Frank Dale (Goldthorpe), and the groomsman was Mr. Arthur Gale (Darfield).
