A 21-year-old Sergeant Instructor, who was born in the Army and has never been out, is the bridegroom of a Wombwell girl who was married at St Pancras, London, on Saturday.

The bride was Miss Eunice Lax, only daughter of Mr Norman Lax, Heath View, Gordon House Road, London and the late Mrs Lax (nee Turner).

She was married to Mr Stephen Crooke, son of Sergeant Major Crooke and Mrs Crooke of Redding. The bridegroom is serving in the Royal Artillery. His father has been in the regiment all his married life.

Mr Lax left Wombwell about 14 years ago to go into the hotel business in London. He is now serving whole time in an ambulance unit in London. His son, Mr Raymond Lax is in the Royal Engineers, and the bride left work in Wombwell in the early part of the year to join the N.A.A.F.I.

The bride wore a dress of blue cloque, with silver fox fur and velour hat with shoulder veil.

Bridesmaids were Miss Crooke, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss June Wyan, with Mrs Foster and Mrs L Lax as matrons of honour. Mr B Foster was best man.

A reception was held at the Region Palace Hotel.
