Miss Margaret Jones, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jones, of 7, Elliott’s Terrace, Station Road, Wombwell, was married at Wombwell Parish Church on Sunday to Seaman Donald Chester Turnbull, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Turnbull, of 28, Orchard Street, Wombwell.
The service was conducted by Canon J. St. Leger Blakeney. The bridegroom, who was formerly on the clerical staff at Mitchell Main Colliery, and a member of the local Home Guard, joined the Navy eight weeks ago.
The bride was one of the attendants to Wombwell’s Beauty Queen. Given away by her father, the bride wore a turquoise two-piece with navy hat and accessories. In the coat was a spray of carnation.
Bridesmaids were Miss Mabel Jones, in navy blue costume, Miss Barbara Turnbull, in green coat over blue-green dress, and Miss Mavis Jones (6), cousin of the bride, in pink dress a posy of primroses , After the ceremony, Mavis presented the bride with a souvenir silver slipper. Best man was Mr. Albert Whitfield, and groomsman, Mr. Harry Jones. The coaches for this wedding were supplied by Messrs. M. Charlesworth and Son, 2, York Street, Wombwell.
