At Wombwell Parish Church on Christmas Day, by the Rector, Miss Enid Mary Hames eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Thames, of 64, Hough Lane, Wombwell, was married to Mr. Lawrence Arthur Taylor, second son of Mr. Adam and the late Mrs. Taylor, 127, Hough Lane, Wombwell. Both bride and bridegroom were members of the Wombwell Thespians. Recently the bridegroom took up an appointment as a building inspector at Hayes, Middlesex, where the couple will reside.
The wedding attracted wide interest, several members of the Thespians being present.
The bride wore ivory satin with veil and wreath. The bridesmaids were Misses Freda and Marion Hames (sisters), Miss Olive Taylor (sister of the bridegroom), and Miss Mollie Rowbottom. All wore pastel blue georgette with blue hats to match. The best man was Mr. Stephen Lightly, of Mexborough, and the groomsman Mr. Leslie Rowbottom. The bride was given away by her father. Mr. Joseph Harrington played the organ. A reception was held at the home of the bride.
Among the numerous presents was a picture from the Wombwell Thespians and a biscuit barrel from the bride’s colleagues on the staff of the Park Street Council School, Wombwell.
