At Wombwell Parish Church on Monday the wedding took place of Miss Hilda Donald, third daughter of Mr. Tom Donald and the late Mrs. Donald, 25, Summer Lane, Wombwell, to Mr. Edwin Smart, elder son of Mrs. G. Brough, 29, Hoyland Street, Wombwell.
The bride wore a long dress of panne velvet, with veil and wreath of orange blossom. She carried a cheat of lilies. The bridesmaids were Miss Margaret Donald, sister of ‘the bride, Miss Annie Parkin, cousin of the bridegroom, Miss Ethel Wood, cousin of the bridegroom, and Miss Margery Rawling. The bridesmaids wore pink and green floral georgette with picture hats of black trimmed with panne velvet.
The best man was P.c. Hussey of Durham, and Mr. John Donald, brother of the bride, acted as groomsman, the bride being given away by her father. The ceremony was performed by the Rector of Wombwell, the Rec. J. St. Leger Blakeney.
Following a reception at the Reform Club. Wombwell, the couple left for the Isle of Man, where the honeymoon is being spent.
