Wedding: Bourne & Wray
One hundred and fifty guests attended the reception held by Mr. and Mrs. H. Bourne in the Welfare Hall, Jump, on Saturday following the wedding of their youngest daughter, Miss Isabella Mary Bourne who resided with her parents at 7, Hallsworth Avenue, Hemingfield, to Mr. James Wray, third son of the late Mr. George Wray and Mrs. Wray, Concrete Cottages, Cortonwood.
The ceremony took place at the Wesleyan Reform Church and was witnessed by a large number of friends, the Rev. Eric Kenworthy officiating. The service was choral. Mr. David Clifton at the organ, played bridal music, and the choir sang “The Voice that breathed o’er Eden” and “Lead us, Heavenly Father, lead us.”
The bride was given away by her father and was attended by Misses. Annie Waterstone, Connie Duke, Joan Hanks, Susie Wray. Mr. Gilbert Hanks was best man and Mr. Herbert Wray groom. The bride wore georgette and maltese lace and carried lilies and fern.
The senior maids wore blue dresses and hats and the juniors blue dresses and net caps. They carried white lilac and anemones
The mother of the bride wore a celanese dress and green hat and the bridegroom’s mother blue silk and lace.
The couple received many gifts. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a signet ring and the bridesmaids received pearls from the bridegroom. A wireless set was the gift of the bride’s parents and an eiderdown was received from the bridegroom’s mother.
