Wedding – Beech & Sprunt

Miss Joan Mary Beech, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Beech, “Linwood”, Station Street, Swinton, was married at St. John’s Church, Swinton, on Saturday to Dr. John Ellis Sprunt, of Kinfauns, Perth. The Rev. E. Stanley Rowe officiated.

Miss Beech has been a member of the teaching staff of Brampton Ellis Junior school. She formerly attended Mexborough Secondary School, and later St Peter’s College, Peterborough. From her colleagues at Brampton school she received a set of fish eaters.

She was given away by her father and was attired in an edge to edge coat in old rose with crepe-de-Chine dress to tone, brown fox fur and brown accessories. She wore a spray of cream roses. Her attendants were Miss Barbara Beech (her sister) and Miss Jean Roebuck. They were in lime green costumes, trimmed with fur, with brown accessories. Each wore a spray of pink arnations and carried a muff. Each eceived a bracelet from the bridegroom.

The best man was the Rev. T. Dixon, Vicar of Shildon, Durham. The service was choral. Mr. N. Insley was at the organ, and the hymns “O Perfect Love” and “Gracious Spirit, Holy Ghost,” were sung.

A reception was held at “Linwood,” he bride’s mother wearing a brown fur-trimmed coat and floral dress to tone, brown accessories, and a spray of pink carnations.

Dr. Sprunt is Dental Surgeon to Lindsey County Council. The honeymoon is being spent in the south.
