Umbrella Mushroom

August 1939

South Yorkshire Times August 25 1939

Nearly an umbrella is this giant mushroom found in a field at Broomhill Wombwell, on Saturday by Mr. Ernest Halliday, Park Street, Wombwell.

Mrs. Halliday is displaying the delicious “morsel.” All she wants now is a juicy beef steak to match. The mushroom weighs three quarters of a pound, and is over eight inches across.
