Transport Chief

Mr. John T. Rodwell (40), M.I.M.T. of Hough Lane. Wombwell, Sub-District Manager for the Ministry of War Transport at Barnsley, has been appointed chairman of the Road Panel of the Yorkshire Regional Road and Rail Conference.

During the past 12 months he has been acting as vice-chairman under Mr. L. W. Morton, of Leeds. Five weeks ago he was appointed Chairman of the Standing Joint Committee representing the Road Transport Association in Yorkshire. This is a consultative body, which acts in an advisory capacity to the Government on transport questions.

He is also a member of the Road Haulage Wages Board and an assessor of rates to the Regional Transport Commissioner. Mr. Rodwell is instructor in motor engineering in the Wombwell and Darfield Squadron of the Air Training Corps. He was trained in engineering at Barnsley Technical School and for ten years was a member of the teaching staff.
