Jump Home Guard drew with Birdwell Home Guard in a game of football on Saturday.

Ald. T. Tomlinson was the preacher at Jump Wesleyan Reform Church on Sunday.

Jump Boys’ Club visited Barnes Hall on Tuesday evening to give a performance of “The Peace Egg.” at the invitation of Lady Mabel Smith.

After three years as manager at Darfield Main, Mr J. Edwards has left to take tip the position of manager of Oxcroft No. 1 Colliery, near Chesterfield.

At a gathering at Netherwood Hall on Tuesday Mr. Edwards received a gift of a china cabinet expressing the good wishes’ and esteem of officials and workmen at Darfield Main.

Records at the food office at Wombwell reveal that some 301 applications for new ration cards are still outstanding.

Mr. Allen Wood, of Main Street, Wombwell, who died last week, had been employed at Mitchell Main Colliery for 50 years and had lived in the same house 49 years.

At the invitation of Lady Mabel Smith, members of Jump Boys’ Club performed their Christmas play. The Peace Egg” at Barnes Hall on New Year’s Eve.

A special bus was commissioned to convey the boys from Wombwell and after the performance refreshments were served in the kitchen.

Lady Mabel Smith’s interest in this old-time play may possibly be traced to the fact that one of her ancestors wrote it.

Production of the play has been in great demand and altogether the boys have given 14 performances during the holidays, many private houses and institutions being visited.

The boys themselves are to decide to what purpose the proceeds will be devoted. They require sports equipment for themselves and will assist tlocal charities.

It Is possible that in the near future the performance will be broadcast, an influential person, who familiar with the play having taken the matter up with the B.B.C.

Mr. Arnold Lee, leader of the Jump Boys’ Club, preached the sermon at the midnight service at Jump Wesleyan Reform Church on New Year’s Eve.
