Sunday School “Simeon”

Among the “Simeons” of the Sunday School in the Wombwell district (the town is noted for them) there are few who in the matter of age and service are able to give points to Mr. Enoch Whittaker, the superintendent of the Sunday School of the Wesleyan Reform Church in George St.

Mr. Whittaker has held this position’ continuously for nearly fifty years and is still on active service. Altogether he has to his credit over half a century’s work in connection with the Wesleyan Reform Church, the members of which connexion handed him last year a handsome timepiece as a token of appreciation and affection on the attainment of his “Jubilee.”

At the same time he was awarded the fifty years diploma of the Sunday School Union, an emblem which he treasures perhaps more than any other possession.
