Staveley’s Second-Half Improvement to Beat Wombwell.
Though fielding three reserve Staveley obtained a welcome home victory Wombwell yesterday, beating the South Yorkshire side the odd goal in five.
In the first half Wombwell showed their superiority and Pardon scored twice, Edwards appearing to be at fault on each occasion. After the cross over the home side gave a he remarkably fine display and completely outclassed the visitors, Meads. Pearce, and Shaw each scoring a goal.
Hutchinson, in goal for Wombwell, proved an able substitute to Brannan; for fully 15 minutes he defied the half-backs and of Staveley who sent in shot after shot. , Pack, Grundy, and Meads played well in Stavelev defence; and Pardon and Addey were thrustful forwards for Wombwell.
