Official news has been received by Mrs Shannon, 33, Elliott’s Terrace, Wombwell, that her second son, Sergeant Major Patrick Shannon (K.R.R.) previously reported missing, is now reported killed in action.

He was 31 years of age, and has been in the army 12 years, I was seen service in India, and was badly wounded at Ypres in 1915.

He was a reservist, and at the time of mobilisation 1914, he resided with his sister, Mrs senior at Dun Street, Swinton, and was employed as a driver on the Mexborough and Swinton Times. He leaves a widow and one child.

His brother Private John Shannon (York and Lancaster) was killed in action on July 1, 1960.

Another brother, Sapper Thomas Shannon (Royal Engineers) has been discharged through septic poisoning.
