Wombwell Brothers
Mrs. Dawes, of 11, Hope Street, Wombwell, widow of Mr. Robert C. Dawes, has two sons serving in the Army. The elder, Robert Charles Dawes, is serving with the R.A.S.C. abroad: the younger. Tom Dawes (21), has been serving in the K.0.Y.L.I. since last November.
Robert Charles Dawes is well-known as a former bus driver with the Yorkshire Traction Co. He has been serving since the war started and was in the withdrawal from France. His wife lives at 67, Roebuck Street, Wombwell.
Tom Dawes left Darfield Main Colliery to join the Forces.
He has since discovered that he is a boxer, and has won two medals in ring fights. He says his brother, Robert Charles, will have to “look out” when he comes home.
