Wombwell Officer Wounded

Second Lt G.E.Tune (York and Lancaster), eldest son of Mr and Mrs Edward Tune, of Branksome, Wombwell, was wounded and gassed on Sunday, August 19.

He was for some days in the Red Cross hospital at Le Touquet, and was brought to England on Saturday, August 25.

He is now in the Prince of Wales Hospital Marylebone where he is making satisfactory progress.

Second Lt Tune, who is aged 19, went to France in June 3 of this year, and was for some time on the Brigade staff. He rejoined his company about three weeks ago.

He is well-known in the district and attended the Barnsley Grammar School. He was a student there when he enlisted.
