From Normandy to Altar

Back from Normandy beaches, which he reached on D-day, in a tank landing craft, Marine William Thornton Taylor, youngest son of Mrs. A. Taylor, 12, Mitchell Terrace, Wombwell, and the late Mr. Joe Taylor, was married at Broomhill Centenary Methodist Church on Saturday.

His bride was Miss Gwen Latham, only daughter of Mrs. Charlotte Latham, 12, Summer Lane, Wombwell.  The bride is in the A.R.P. first aid service at Wombwell.

Given away by her mother, the bride wore ivory satin beaute and had a bouquet of roses.  There were five bridesmaids, Miss Ann Lee, Misses P. Barraclough and K. Oxley and Misses Doreen Oxley and Nancy Sharpe.

Best man was Trooper Herbert Taylor, brother of the bridegroom and groomsmen Marine M. H. A. Wassall (who was also in the recent invasion) and Mr. W. Lee.
