In The Band

Pte. R. E. Symcox (19), eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Symcox, of 7, Copeland Road, Wombwell, a well-known figure in the local dance halls, has been serving with the Y. and L. Regiment since last February.

An old boy of John Street Council School, Wombwell. He was formerly employed as an apprentice joiner.

In the Army he has already passed three trade tests and is making good progress. His dance band talent has come in handy with the Forces, and he has already played with many well-known musicians in famous broadcasting bands. He is at present a member of the “Commanders Dance Orchestra,” and has recently appeared in shows entertaining the troops. He expects that his band will be “on the air” in the near future.
