Private Ewart Stamps

Private Stamps of 95, Barnsley Road, Wombwell, has been awarded the Military Medal for conspicuous gallantry in action in France on August 8.

He was one of a party of six men who attacked and defeated 60 German.

They plied a machine gun with deadly effect, killing 22 of the enemy and capturing the rest.

Private Stamps is 20 years of age and has been in France for two months
