Private Aaron Priest
Mrs Thewlis has received the following letters notifying her of the death of her daughter’s fiancé private Aaron Priest, of Wombwell:
“I deeply regret to inform you that private Priest was killed by a piece of shell, which struck him in the throat yesterday, and I beg to tender my sincere sympathy in your sorrow.
Aaron was a firm friend of ours, coming as we all did from the same district, enlisting together and being in the same section up to a few days ago. His death came as a shock to us, for he had not left as an hour when he was killed.
I hope it will be consolation to you to know that he died bravely doing his duty. I cannot at present tell you where he is buried, but will do so at some future date.”
