Ex-Wombwell Scout

To the noble army of Wombwell Scouts who have joined the Forces has to be added Private Stanley Pollitt, son of P.c. William Pollitt, for many years stationed at Wombwell Main, and now at Scissett, near Huddersfield. He has joined the Royal Army Ordnance Corps. He has now had five months with the t Colours.

Private Pollitt joined the Wombwell Troop of Boy Scouts when d they were attached to Wombwell Congregational Church, and Assistant District Scoutmaster E. E. Lines was Scoutmaster.

Since moving to Scissett he has played football for Scissett in the Huddersfield League.  Private Pollitt’s father served throughout the Great War as a military policeman.
