In Middle East

One of the youngest of soldiers’ wives at Wombwell is Mrs. Velma Owen , of 122, Hough Lane, whose husband, Sapper John Mitchell Owen (22), has been serving in the Middle East for the put twelve months.

Mrs. Owen, who is 22, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Taylor, of the above address, and was married two years ago shortly after her husband had joined the Royal Engineers.

Sapper Owen was formerly a painter and decorator. His last letter, written a fortnight ago, stated that he was fit and well.
