Former Footballer

Well-known among footballers in the Hoyland district as a former player, Pte. George Oliver (38), son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Oliver, who formerly lived in the Barnsley Road district of Wombwell, is now serving in an infantry regiment in a remote spot in the north.

Pte. Olliver married Miss Mary Cusworth, a daughter of Mr, and Mrs. William Cusworth, of 204, Church Street, Jump, and they have three children.

Prior to joining up he had left Cortonwood Colliery to work in the Bradford district where his wife is now working.
